Functional characterization of fault tolerant integration in distributed sensor networks

چکیده
Fault-tolerance is an important issue in network design because sensor networks must function in a dynamic, uncertain world. A functional characterization of the fault-tolerant integration of abstract interval estimates is proposed. This model provides a preliminary version for a general framework that is hoped to develop to address the general problem of fault-tolerant integration of abstract sensor estimates. It is further proposed that a scheme for narrowing the width of the sensor output in a specific failure model and give it a functional representation. The main distinguishing feature of our model over the original Marzullo's model is in reducing the width of the output interval estimate significantly in most cases where the number of sensors involved is large.

Outlier Detection in Wireless Sensor Networks Using Distributed Principal Component Analysis
Detecting anomalies is an important challenge for intrusion detection and fault diagnosis in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). To address the problem of outlier detection in wireless sensor networks, in this paper we present a PCA-based centralized approach and a DPCA-based distributed energy-efficient approach for detecting outliers in sensed data in a WSN. The outliers in sensed data can be ca...
متن کاملENERGY AWARE DISTRIBUTED PARTITIONING DETECTION AND CONNECTIVITY RESTORATION ALGORITHM IN WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS
Mobile sensor networks rely heavily on inter-sensor connectivity for collection of data. Nodes in these networks monitor different regions of an area of interest and collectively present a global overview of some monitored activities or phenomena. A failure of a sensor leads to loss of connectivity and may cause partitioning of the network into disjoint segments. A number of approaches have be...

A new Fault Tolerant Controller (FTC) has been presented in this research by integrating a Fault Detection and Diagnosis (FDD) mechanism in a nonlinear model predictive controller framework. The proposed FDD utilizes a Multi-Sensor Data Fusion (MSDF) methodology to enhance its reliability and estimation accuracy. An augmented state-vector model is developed to incorporate the occurred senso...

n this paper, we propose an optimal fault−tolerant algorithm for distributed event detection in wireless sensor networks. Two important problems are addressed: 1. How to handle both the noise−related measurement error and sensor fault simultaneously in fault−tolerant detection? 2. How to choose a proper neighborhood size n for a sensor node in fault correction such that the maximum energy could...
متن کاملFDMG: Fault detection method by using genetic algorithm in clustered wireless sensor networks
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) consist of a large number of sensor nodes which are capable of sensing different environmental phenomena and sending the collected data to the base station or Sink. Since sensor nodes are made of cheap components and are deployed in remote and uncontrolled environments, they are prone to failure; thus, maintaining a network with its proper functions even when und...
